Product Overview
Description
This French woven wall tapestry depicts the taking of the town of Lille in 1667. It is one of fourteen tapestries illustrating the wars of Louis XIV, called l'Histoire du Roi, or the Story of the King, woven at the Gobelins during the second half of the 17th century. This small extract with added border represents when Lille was taken over by the Spanish on the 28th of august 1667.
