Product Overview
Description
Servant Girl I is a Belgian impressionist tapestry cushion cover piece inspired by Johannes Vermeer's, The Milkmaid (c 1658-1661). It is speculated that the maid in the painting was Tanneke Everpoel, the Vermeer household's maid whom the Vermeer family respected and admired. Vermeer used the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli to get such an intense blue in the skirt.
The Servant Girl I is jacquard woven, the backed lining is of a plush velvet with an invisible zipper closure that allows easy placement and removal of cushion inserts.
